Scanning & reverse engineering
Reverse engineering, honestly scoped
Most people need a usable part, not a scan. We'll help you choose the right deliverable for your object and purpose.
Service status: Consultation only
What can you actually get?
- Scan mesh
- A dense triangle mesh of the visible surface. Good for organic shapes and reference; hard to edit precisely.
- Printable mesh
- A scan that has been cleaned, closed and made watertight so it can be printed as-is.
- Reverse-engineered CAD
- A solid model rebuilt from measurements and/or a scan, with true planes, holes and dimensions. Best for functional parts.
- Parametric reconstruction
- Reverse-engineered CAD with design intent captured as editable features — easiest to modify later.
- Inspection
- Comparing a physical part with a reference model to see where and how much it deviates.
We don't currently advertise in-house scanning hardware. Consultations cover measuring and CAD reconstruction, and whether a third-party scan makes sense. Learn more: When 3D scanning makes sense.
