Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information FORMYQ collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. FORMYQ, a Michigan-based business, is the "controller" of your information for privacy-law purposes. Questions or requests: support@formyq.com.
In short: we collect what we need to quote, make and ship your parts and to run the site. We keep your files private. We don't sell your personal information, we don't use advertising trackers, and we don't share your information for targeted advertising.
What we collect
- Contact and account details: name, email address, phone number, company, and your sign-in information. You can also browse and request quotes as a guest (we create a temporary anonymous session so your uploads stay attached to you).
- Your files and project details: 3D models and CAD files (STL, 3MF, OBJ and others), photos, sketches, measurements, design briefs and messages you send us. These can be confidential; we treat them that way.
- Quotes, orders and addresses: what you ordered, prices, purchase-order numbers, delivery and billing addresses, shipping and tracking details, and messages about your order.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive the payment status, amount, the last four digits and type of card, but never your full card number.
- Business accounts: organisation details, team members you invite, saved specifications, agreements and, if you ask for tax-exempt status, your exemption certificate.
- Materials Expert (AI) questions: the questions you ask and the answers given. Before we store a question, we remove email addresses, phone numbers, links and street addresses. We don't store your IP address or account with it.
- Technical information: your IP address is used to protect the site from abuse (rate limiting) and is stored only as a one-way salted hash, not in readable form. We record basic, anonymous counts of events (such as "upload started" or "quote requested") and how you found us (for example a search engine or campaign link) to understand what's working. These counts aren't linked to your identity.
Why we use it (and our legal bases)
- To provide our services — review files, prepare quotes, make, inspect and ship parts, deliver design work, take payment and provide support (performance of a contract, or steps you ask for before one).
- To communicate with you — confirmations, quote and order updates, and replies to your messages (contract; legitimate interests).
- To keep records — invoices, orders and tax records (legal obligation).
- To keep the site secure and working — preventing fraud, spam and abuse, rate limiting, and fixing errors (legitimate interests).
- To improve our services — anonymous usage counts and anonymised assistant questions help us improve the site and our guides (legitimate interests).
- Marketing: we only send marketing emails if you've opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run FORMYQ, and only what they need:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and private file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — sending email.
- OpenAI — answering questions you type into the Materials Expert. We send your question and our own materials information; we don't send your name or contact details unless you type them into the question (please don't).
- Shipping carriers and shipping software (such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, Shippo or EasyPost) — your delivery details to ship your order, and for international orders the customs declaration and commercial invoice that customs authorities require.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply). We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Your files and confidentiality
Uploaded files are stored privately. Only you and the FORMYQ people working on your project can access them; download links expire quickly. We never publish your files, parts or designs in our portfolio or marketing without your written permission. Design projects can be covered by a non-disclosure agreement on request — see our Design Services, IP & Confidentiality Terms.
Order tracking and inspection photos
- Tracking pages. Your order page shows your order's progress from our records. If you create a share link, anyone with that link can see the order's progress, inspection photos we chose to share and shipping status — never prices, files, addresses or messages. Creating a new link turns off the old one.
- Inspection photos. We may photograph your parts during quality inspection. We show them to you only if staff mark them as shareable.
How long we keep it
- Account information: while your account is open. You can ask us to close it.
- Quotes, orders, invoices and payment records: for 7 years after the order, for tax and accounting purposes.
- Uploaded files: files attached to an order are kept with the order so you can reorder. Files that never become an order are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Messages and support requests: up to 3 years after your last contact.
- Materials Expert questions (anonymised): up to 2 years.
- Security records (hashed rate-limit entries): about a day.
We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.
International visitors and transfers
FORMYQ is based in the United States and ships worldwide. Your information is processed and stored in the United States and in the other countries where our service providers operate. Where data protection law requires it (for example the EU or UK GDPR), we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses or other approved safeguards for these transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it (subject to records we must keep by law);
- object to or restrict certain uses, or withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- receive your information in a portable format.
EU/EEA and UK residents also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing — we don't sell or share it — and we won't discriminate against you for using these rights. You can use an authorised agent.
To make a request, email support@formyq.com from the email address on your account (or tell us how to verify you). We'll respond within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires.
Children
Our services are for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, private file storage, access controls, multi-factor authentication for staff, and hashed rather than readable IP addresses. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at support@formyq.com if you suspect a problem.
Cookies
We use only the cookies and browser storage needed to run the site; we don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. See our Cookie Notice.
Changes
We'll update the effective date above when this policy changes, and email account holders about significant changes.
